Clouds.
I am currently sitting in Doe, trying to read Computer Science lecture notes, but am getting distracted by the window in front of me. When I was little, I didn’t think that clouds moved. I always thought they stayed in one place, and that I had moved every time I looked up at the sky and saw things differently.
Sitting by this window reminds me of when I still lived in Monterey Park, in the big house. While working at the dining table, the whole house would get darker and lighter, and I would always wonder why it happened. I sat there for minutes just watching the shadows cover up the house, wondering what could possibly be happening. I remember asking my mom why it was so. She replied that the clouds move and cover the sun, which creates a shade over our house. I was completely mind blown. I had always thought that clouds never moved. This episode was followed by days of constantly staring at the sky, trying to see whether or not the clouds really moved. One particularly windy day, the clouds moved particularly fast, fast enough for my eyes to catch the subtle movement. After that, sitting at the dining room table was a completely new experience. Each consecutive darkening and lightening put a smile on my face. I loved the way things looked as they became darker then lighter. I realize now, over a decade later, that that feeling of awe has never left me. To this day I still look out windows and up at the sky, waiting for the clouds to move.
Hello, I am Perlin! This site says I'm awesome, and I hope I can live up to its expectations =]
